Teeth Whitening
What is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening uses peroxide-based bleaching agents that are designed to lighten the colour of your teeth. Oxygen interacts with the active ingredient on the tooth enamel, creating the whitening effect.
Tooth discolouration is quite common among adults, but it can cause some people to feel self-conscious about their smiles.
If your teeth have become stained or discoloured as a result of imperfect oral hygiene habits, dietary choices or side effects of certain medication, teeth whitening may be right for you.
At-Home Whitening Kits
We offer teeth whitening kits that you can take home, allowing you to lighten your teeth from the comfort and convenience of your home.
Peroxide-based whiteners are used to bleach the tooth enamel. The whitener comes in the form of a gel that is placed in a tray that fits on your teeth.
Your dentist will provide you with detailed instructions on how to use the whitening gel and trays, including how often you should whiten, and for how long.
Is teeth whitening for you?
With age, teeth become darker. Factors such as smoking or consuming beverages like coffee and tea can also increase surface discolouration and darken the enamel of the teeth.
If you are self-conscious about darkened or stained teeth, teeth whitening can be an effective way to lighten their natural colour in a non-intrusive manner.
Although teeth whitening will not perfectly restore the colour of your teeth, it may be able to help you achieve a shade of whiteness you feel more comfortable with.
